he United States has approximately 15,000,000 living veterans, and a significant number attend military reunions each year. The Museum’s National Veterans Visitor Center will have facilities for veterans and their families to meet, dine, and engage, as well as enjoy special programming designed for their group.
The National Museum of Americans in Wartime™ will be an appropriate setting for veterans to share their experiences with family members and other guests. They can actually show warfront landscapes and military machines rather than just describe them. Imagine World War II veterans sitting astride the very tanks and transports they used in 1944 or Vietnam veterans visiting an authentic MASH unit or boarding a Huey helicopter.
The Museum will be open for reunions to veterans of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard, as well as those who served in corresponding units of the Reserves and National Guard. Reunion groups from other organizations, such as the FBI, Secret Service, CIA, Veterans Hospitals, Merchant Marine and law enforcement will also be welcome.
Home Front Recognition
For citizens who rose to support the troops and war efforts of the 20th and 21st Centuries, the Museum will be a special place. From USO hostesses and factory workers to scrap collectors, war bond sellers and hospital volunteers, all are welcome to our museum that remembers and honors their service.
