Visitors Will Come
RA projects attendance for the Museum on the extent of the resident market, the traveler market, and market penetration rates achieved by comparable military museums. Museum attendance during a “stabilized” year of operation is expected to range between 253,000 and 310,000, with a medium estimate of 281,000 recommended as the planning figure. After the initial novelty of a new museum in the local market has subsided, a stabilized level of attendance typically occurs by the third year of operation.
The convenient location of the Museum will enhance attendance:
+ only 35 miles from downtown Washington
+ easy access from I-95 and I-66
+ adjacent to a Virginia Rail Express (VRE) station
+ adjacent to the Manassas Regional Airport
+ in an “historic corridor” that includes the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Manassas Battlefield, the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum and the future National Museum of the U.S. Army
